The Evil Ones

There was no education in my youth
About the wickedness of some men
No way to learn the harsh truth
Of the monsters who live in our world
Those men masked with smiling faces
Who act like a friend
To exploit the trust of the young
Offering promises of safety
But wielding sex as a weapon
On the most vulnerable ones
Who realize much too late
That they are looking at pure evil
Left with wounds inflicted so deeply
The invisible damage, hidden inside
Where our hearts and spirits reside
And where dirty little secrets hide
The unthinkable & unfixable
That continues its torture
Long into the future
For a child once so traumatized
Becomes lost in the world
Confused about what is normal
Running away from love
And unable to trust the men
They meet in their lives
For many years to come
And there was no “Intervention”
To help us understand
What makes a child become
Hell bent on self-destruction
Full of despair and suicidal ideation
And so utterly helpless
So please, do tell your children
About the monsters in this world
Human predators of the Devil
Conscienceless and full of hate
For it will help keep them safe
And withholding this unfortunate truth
Keeps a naivety in our children
That just puts them at risk
Of learning this lesson too late
